Honey is a sweet, viscous fluid produced by bees and some related insects. It is made by regurgitating nectar, which is then strained and stored in honeycombs.

The color of honey depends on what flowers the bees have been collecting nectar from; some types of honey are darker than others. Honey can also be classified based on its water content: high-water content honey tends to be darker because it has more sugar dissolved in it than low-water content honey.

There are many ways to identify whether the honey you are looking at is original or not. One way to do this would be by looking at the color of the honey. If it has a rich golden color, then it is likely that you are looking at original honey that was collected from flowers.

Due to this exponential demand in market, many adulterated items are added honey stated to pop out in market at very completive pricing. This type of honey may seem and look like real honey but they are far away differential to that of real honey made from flower nectar honey.

  • Water Test: For this, take a glass of water and add a spoon of honey into it. If the honey dissolves than it is adulterated. As the pure honey is thick and dense in texture, it will settle down at bottom of the glass.
  • Thumb Test: Take honey on your thumb and check whether its spread unlike other liquid. If it does, then the honey is not pure.
  • Vinegar Test: Another test to check for the purity of honey is to put few drops of honey into the vinegar water. If there is any forming arises from mixture, then be caution it is adulterated one.
  • Burn Test: One last test in our list is burn test. Take cotton bud and dip it into honey. If the honey remains unburned then it is pure one.

If your honey passed in all of these tests then you have original authentic honey and if not get yourself original honey.
